Barnaby is the former assistant athletic director at Coral Shores High School. He was also a highly successful head coach of the boys’ lacrosse at Coral Shores, growing that program from infancy into a state recognized powerhouse. Most notable among his numerous coaching recognitions, he was selected South Florida Coach of the Year by his coaching peers. Barnaby and his wife Deiky own multiple businesses in Islamorada and he helps oversee operation for his family’s The Turtle and Kaiyo Restaurants. He is a board member of “Dreamcatchers”, a philanthropic organization based in Buffalo. His family’s business, Rich Products, is one of the most successful family owned businesses in the world serving over 100 countries while grossing $3B annually. Paul retired in 2010 after teaching 38 years at Coral Shores. During that time he served in a number of coaching capacities including: Head Boys Basketball; Head Girls Basketball; Head Softball (32 years); Head Track and Asst. Football. Paul is a former “Teacher of the Year” in Monroe County. He served as the “Voice of the Hurricanes” while announcing football games for nearly two decades.” He is past deacon, Sunday school teacher and youth pastor and is . Paul is a graduate of Grand Rapids Baptist….upon graduation he held their “career” scoring record in basketball. He was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2015.
George Hertel

George Hertel was a highly successful developer in Broward County (FL) area before moving to the Keys 34 years ago. George re-opened a wholesale fish house and developed a restaurant which is now known as The Islamorada Fish Co. He subsequently partnered with Johnny Morris and Bass Pro Shops and later expanded “Islamorada Fish Company” around the country. George previously served on the board of the Islamorada Fishing Club and was on the Village of Islamorada, planning and zoning advisory committee. He is a very active member–and past president–of the Upper Key’s Rotary. He currently serves on the Fl. Keys Electric Co-op Board and was construction chairman for their Upper Keys operations center in Tavernier. He is a founding member of the Florida Keys History and Discovery Foundation and remains on their board of directors.
James Mooney

James is a 1968 graduate of Coral Shores where he stared in baseball and track. James taught for a number of years at his alma mater before entering the business world. He was owner/operator of a grocery store for 18 years before venturing into a highly successful stint in real estate. He has been a director on many boards including: Take Stock in Children Monroe County, Fl Keys Electric Co-Op, Islamorada Chamber of Commerce, Conch Scramble Golf Tournament , Fl Keys MLS, Chair of Grievance Board Fl Keys Board of Realtors, Fl Keys Board of Realtors for 2012 – 2013, Treasure FKBR 2012-2013; President Womens Council of Realtors, Fl Keys Chapter. His professional memberships include: Member Fl Keys Board of Realtors, National Association of Realtors; and Womens Council of Realtors. “Jimmy” was elected to Islamorada Village of Islands (first) Council in 1998 – 2002; he was Vice Mayor in 2000 and Mayor in 2001. He was elected to the Village Council again in 2014 and will serve his term through 2020; he was elected unopposed in 2018. He was Vice Mayor 2016 and major in 2017.
Jane Hlis

Jane is owner and administrator of Atlantic Sportcare, Inc, an orthopedic physical therapy private practice located in Key Largo, FL. Born and raised in the Chicago , IL, area, she is a 1986 Northwestern University Physical Therapy program graduate. She is a licensed and actively practicing sports and orthopedic physical therapist for 33 years. Prior to receiving her physical therapy degree, Jane attended Trinity University, San Antonio, TX, where she played tennis as a scholarship athlete and received her BS degree, double majoring in biology and physical education and minoring in psychology. Jane is a certified strength and conditioning specialist since 1992 and has trained and developed sports specific performance enhancement programs for several high school, collegiate and professional athletes throughout the years. She currently is a member of the Upper Keys Rotary Club.
Derek Rodberg

Derek was raised in Tavernier and graduated from both Plantation Key School as well as Coral Shores before enrolled at Florida State University. After securing his degree in Economics, he moved to New York City to begin a highly successful Wall Street career. After 23 years as an institutional bond trader and a derivatives swap broker, he and his wife Tara decided to move back to Islamorada to raise their three children (Jack-2017 CSHS Grad; Tommy-2019 CSHS Grad; and Erin 2020 CSHS Grad). Derek states, “I have proudly been involved with coaching various sports for the kids, and raising them in this amazing community has been a blessing. I am excited to be a part of the Upper Keys Foundation as I feel it is critical for today’s youth to understand the concept of community service and hard work.”
